Multi Level Marketing (MLM) is simply a vehicle that can take you from point A to point B. You become the marketing arm for which ever company you decide to associate with. Just like waiting tables while I was in college and university, it was simply the means I choose to pay the bills and make ends meet. In the case of MLM you can, through your own hard work, achieve financial freedom.

Network marketing is a 2 - 5 year process, you will be required to take massive amounts of action in order to learn the skills of MLM. It really is a matter of learning new skills and creating new habits to become truly successful and the place you have to work the hardest is on yourself. Because if you already had the skills to be super successful in business, you would already be super successful.

Unlike a franchise, you can build your MLM team while still maintaining your job (just over broke). Yes you will have to build a team because no one becomes super successful in business without a team. MLM requires the same skills as required for building any business. You will need to be focused, committed, persistent and in it for the long haul. Just like if you were to be going for a degree at a university, you would not quit in the first year because you did not have your degree yet would you?

The only difference between a rich person and poor person is how they use their time. Dr Stephen Covey's latest book "The 8th Habit" he talks about the need in our society for the next paradigm shift. Right now the corporate world has you and me on the wrong side of the balance sheet. You and I are considered to be liabilities. Now I know that there is no way you would consider yourself to be a liability, neither do I and neither does the business model of MLM. With MLM the team concept is critical, every person is a contributing member of the team, in effect an asset rather than a liability.

We are the creative force of our life, and through our own decisions rather than our conditions, if we carefully learn to do certain things, we can accomplish those goals. Stephen Covey Being the team leader that other people are attracted to is one of the great skills you will develop in Multi Level Marketing. Learning to let people develop and grow at their own pace and in their own time, you cannot force growth on someone else.

When you make Multi Level Marketing about the product you become a commissioned sales person. I would suggest that this is not where you want to be, It is not about the product. Yes you will have to find a company you connect with, one that is ethical, moral and has a long term commitment to your success. More importantly you need to find a team leader who has a time tested, proven system that you can duplicate in order to achieve your own success. Because you will be building your MLM business with that team leader not the company.

So when your friend comes to you with a business opportunity take a look at who is teaching them. Ask yourself is this who I want to spend the next 2 - 5 years learning from and if it is I strongly suggest you jump right in!
